Today I had to put my Shannon to sleep.

His lameness was incurable, it had been forseeable.

I had gotten up early to put him out on his fresh green pasture once again at 6 in the morning . I am sure he appreciated it.
As it had always been my greatest pleasure on my way to the office to see him in the rising sun on his green pasture - simply looking at him, enjoing such pleasure, had always made it worth for me getting up that early.

When I retunred to his field this morning after seven he already awaited me at the gate - heavily lame -as he always was in these last days even after only a few hours on the pasture.
I took him rigth on the trailor to drive him to the vet hospital were I left him with the doctor who promised me to take care of him. I couldn't talk, She simply wrapped her arms around me and I left without any word to get into my car in tears.

May the sun always rise upon his back.
