suddenly the tiny-big dwarf is lying in the straw...
looks exactly like his little sister three years ago who I had to give up on so
sadly. same signs, neckset, head - same face expression - just slightly bigger
all in all, more "meat" on him - same colour and the same red eylids - he wants
to become a liver chestnut, too - how nice! and again, only the white
belly spot is lacking - which i had checked again explicitly on my wishlist with
the Lord *sigh* oh well...
and now that i stand in front of the stall, lost in thoughts, watching how the
tiny creature is fighting the forces of gravity, already bouncing around with
these long but still bended legs, already having made friends to the dog - well,
then I know exactly what drives me, going through all the hazzles of breeding
myself, facing the challenges and risks that come along with everything
equestrian breeding involves: it is the deep and dedicated feeling that i did
everything right - since such a beautiful and overwhelming experience -
that can't be wrong.
tiny life - new life - and it even works!
spirit of life - that's what it is.
and if he comes along so heartrendingly and sassy - I really don't feel
ashame to admit those tears of joy rolling off my eyes...
and then he is plumping back into the straw all exhausted - since life, that
sure is exertive!
and you can see how the little body is breathing and everything is at the right
place - a little wonder.
and wonders - how often do you face those in real life?
that i guess is the answer to the question: what is it that actually drives us?
from the bottom of my heart i can say:
I wouldn't want to change this sense of delight against anything else in the
world.

Happy is
the first of hopefully four healthy foals this year in the barn. and Happy he is
called since it has to be optimistic (hoping things turn out better this time)
and simple - since it is overly important that even little Amelie can pronounce
it loud and clear!
because sometimes, when Mum Ingrid isn't around
it could happen that Dad is taking the mares into the wrong stall. then Amelie
would shout out:
Dad! Brici wrong stall! ("Brici" is Fabrice...)
and just imagine what happened if Dad would put the foals to the wrong mare?
then Amelie would have to shout out:
Dad! Happy wrong stall!!!
In
June Happy's "big" day occured - the oldenburg foal inspection at Family
Farwick in Glandorf. Happy behaved exemplarily and
trotted into the oldenburg premium ranks right away - just like his sister did
three years ago. At the same day i learned that Fabrice was in foal again to
Quattro - how wonderful!
now Happy carries an "O"
and Fabrice carries a foal...
perfect little world!
Once weaned Happy will move to his new home in southern Germany to the Rothfuss
Family in Baden-Württemberg. I am more than happy myself to know him in amiable
and multitalented (Rothfuss' compete in jumping, dressage and eventing , like i
do) hands, and even more so: in stallion company as Rothfuss' already own
two riding stallions to compete in sports. and I was emotionally affected when
they shyly asked me if they could name him QRage - after his little sister. they
surely couldn't have pleased me any more.

October 2007:
today I recieved these
pictures of Happy showing his impressive development
as a two-and-a-half year old colt - he has already grown beyond the 1,70 mark
and his fast growth and strong development is the reason he hasn't been
introduced to the licensing preselections yet. A colt in such state of
development can only loose when being compared to others of teh same age who
have been earlier matured and judged as such.
I am more than impressed to see Happy look the way he does: his legs and angles
and the entire shape of his fitting extereieur arr more than promising and i
can't wait to see him under saddle next year. Hopefully by than he will be well
balanced and matured to make favourable use of his long legs - he has always
maintained his natural uphilll tendency specially in canter and his large and
room-making trott being inspired by naturally carried rhythm as it should be.
My best wishes for his future go to his owners, the Rothfuss family, and I hope
to him enter the sport and breeding arena succesfully next year as much as they
do!

fabulous news from South Germany:
Happy and his owners competed at his very
first horse show today, a four year old riding horse class and Happy won the class scoring 75%!
Dear Carmen and Jürgen, you are making me more than just "Happy" and i am so
proud of you!
As Happy is the first and eldest horse i bred within my still considerable "young"
breeding program to finally prove his performance in an official competition and - on top of that - crown it with a super win! Congratulation to
the three of you!
October 2009:
Today I recieved new pictures from "Happy" the eldest son o/o Fabrice who is
now 4 years old and won his first dressage horse class earlier in summer
this year. Needless to say, I am overly excited to see Happy playing
around so expressively, knowing he obviously found the right hands to turn
him into the happy athlete he is supposed to be...
